Baluran National Park is one of the national parks in Indonesia which is located in the Banyuputih, Situbondo and Wongsorejo, Banyuwangi, East Java. The name of this national park is taken from the name of the mountain in this area, namely Gunung Baluran. This national park consists of savanna vegetation types, mangrove forests, seasonal forests, coastal forests, lower mountain forests, swamp forests and forests that are always green throughout the year. Savanna vegetation types dominate the balura national park area which is around 40 percent of the total land area.
This national park connects Banyuwangi and Surabaya and has an area of 25 thousand hectares. 444 species of plants and 171 species of wild animals that live in this national park. Baluran National Park is also often referred to as “Africa van java”. This is because the expanse of savanna is covered with large dry trees and the heat of the sun that illuminates this national park makes the atmosphere like in Africa.
Bekol is an area that has a vast savanna, and in Bekol there is also a Tower of view to see the extent of the savanna from a height. From the gate to Bekol, it travels approximately 13 km with damaged road conditions. The right and left sides towards bekol are full of dense vegetation and are still very awake.
After going through the long journey, the spot bekol has been seen, a large and dry tree in the middle of the savanna becomes a beautiful accessory to beautify the atmosphere. The bull head skull which is neatly lined up at the crossroads towards bekol becomes the center for photo taking. Some herds of deer occasionally seen running around in the savanna, from bekol can be seen clearly the mount baluran.
In this Baluran National Park, you can also enjoy the beauty of the beach, which is also very well preserved, namely Bama Beach. After crossing the savanna which is quite long, about 4 km, tourists can enjoy the beauty of the Bama beach. Bama Beach consists of black sand, white, small black beach stones. Entering the Bama beach area, tourists will be welcomed by a large and wild group of monkeys.
Bama beach is the best place to see the sunrise because it is located on the Bali strait and faces east. Tourists can do various activities, such as walking along the beach, exploring mangrove forests and tree houses, besides that tourists are required to snorkel because of the underwater beauty that is very natural and still awake, or even canoeing around the beach.
