In addition to the uniqueness of endemic animals, Matano Lake also has another uniqueness, namely some cave holes where there are still historical relics such as spears, machetes and household appliances made of yellow iron. Some of the caves are right on the lake, so the mouth of the cave is sometimes covered with lake water. Not far from the settlement there is also a cave, this cave is inhabited by bats and there are still many human remains. Locals call it the cave name skull, this skull cave was once a tomb when the natives did not know religion.

Matano lake is equipped with a restaurant, children’s playground, and lodging. Access to the lake can go directly to Sorowako, if it is traveled by air for around 45 minutes. While the land route from Makassar – Sorowako can take around 9-10 hours.
